From Carrier Approval Process to injection into the German gas transmission grid

From the announcement of the carrier to the injection into the transmission system, close coordination and cooperation with various stakeholders is required. This is an experience that we bring with us due to our history in the trading and storage of natural gas in Germany and Europe.

 

The newly created infrastructure at the Wilhelmshaven site enables us to offer terminal users the following services:

 

Unloading and receipt of the terminal user’s LNG cargo at FSRU
This process is completed within 24 hours.

 

Temporary storage of the terminal user’s LNG in FSRU tanks

 

Regasification of the terminal user’s LNG
The regasification process takes place by warming on the FSRU. The LNG returns to its gaseous state.

 

Injection into the German gas grid
The natural gas is transported via a connecting pipeline to the gas pressure and metering plant of Open Grid Europe GmbH and into the newly built connection pipeline.

Clearance of the carrier

Loading onto the FSRU via flexible hoses. Offloading is tide-independent and is usually completed within 24 hours.

Regasification / Injection into the German transmission system

The LNG is regasified by heating. Feeding into the German long-distance pipeline system takes place via loading arms, which are the interface between the FSRU and the onshore infrastructure.
